Branch Art Exhibit: Smaller and More Robotic
This event has no upcoming dates.
Throughout the month of September, the works of artist Jay Rangam are on display at Oakwood Village Library Arts Centre. Jay Rangam is an artist that lives and works in Toronto, Canada. He received his MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2021 and his BFA from OCAD University in 2019. He has exhibited in group shows in Toronto, Montreal, Baltimore and New York. My recent paintings from 2024 - 2025 begin with digitally combining drawings that I've used in previous bodies of work to create new images. Using the digital cartoon as a starting point for painting, the application of different materials and colours is intended to abstract the representational subject matter of the drawings, creating paintings that appear somewhat abstract while retaining traces of a relationship to the natural world. This exhibit is part of TPL's Art Exhibit Space program. Toronto Public Library provides space for local artists to exhibit their work at locations across the city. These exhibits aim to reflect the diverse cultural interests of the city and its neighbourhoods. The exhibit can be viewed during Deer Park's open hours. Please check the Oakwood Village branch page before your visit. The branch will be closed on September 6th, 7th, and 30th. Free. All are welcome.
