Surviving Dementia Care: The Realities of Family Caregiving (Author Talk)

Surviving Dementia Care is a compassionate and insightful guide for anyone navigating the challenging journey of caring for a loved one with dementia. Drawing on research from information studies, literary studies, and interviews with family caregivers, this book reimagines dementia care - not as a set of skills to master, but as a deeply human experience to endure and understand. Author and Professor Emeritus D. Grant Campbell will address the experiences of families who are caring for a loved one who is living with dementia, including the various points of stress, as well as the various points of joy, and ways in which caregivers learn to survive the experience. Major topics include understanding the diagnosis, communicating with the loved one, choosing an assisted living facility, and using music and the arts as a means of connection.
